Language Translation and Localization Services
Technical Documentation Translation and Localization
Our teams have been involved in translating and localizing technical documents for almost 20 years and keep up with the constant changes and advancements in the industry, enhanced through advanced studies in both languages. We are in tune with the end user and, as such, translate and present technical documentation to meet their standards and in a localized and culturally correct fashion.
End users are very sophisticated and discerning when choosing tech products, and the competition in this field is fierce. This is more of a reason to provide only the best documentation and marketing materials to accompany the products. It is a well-known fact that poorly translated documentation and instructions will turn off and upset end users and can even cause them to abandon a brand.
DDi translates and localizes technical documentation for end users such as computer manuals, digital camera and accessories guides, and copier and fax technical documentation. In addition, we provide highly technical translation documentation for machine and appliance repair technicians, training documentation for sales forces that sell this equipment as well as other technical manuals or spec sheets requiring translation and localization in several languages.
Our translations and localization are designed to communicate and create understanding especially since technical documentation is composed of a highly specialized and complicated lexicon. We appreciate the effort that has gone into the writing of the material in the source language and thus deliver equal clarity and understanding in the target language.
Legal Documentation Translation and Localization
Different cultures have different conceptions of both the philosophy and practice of the law. DDi understands this and makes sure that your legal documentation translations and localization are accurate. We know it is vital that concepts in one culture are translated and communicated in another in language that is clear and easily understood.
Our legal documentation translation teams are experts in the field of law and are composed of highly educated and experienced language specialists that are either practiced lawyers or have extensive experience in legal and contract translations.
Companies use DDi’s full-service translation and localization services to successfully cross over to new markets. They know that it is vital to the success of their endeavors that correct legal translations are in place. Unfortunately, when expanding, launching a new company or introducing a product abroad, too many companies tend to cut corners in the area of legal translations. And, as a result, deals fall through or worse, legal and financial liabilities are incurred from which companies can never quite recover.
It is legally enforceable in some US states (and just smart business in any of them) for companies to translate employee and government documentation into the language that the employee, patient or consumer naturally speaks. DDi understands this and provides translation services for employee and government documentation, medical information/consents, and financial contracts.
Failure to accurately translate a legal employee or government document again exposes the company to potential lawsuits, fines and lost revenue.
Financial Translation and Localization
DDi specializes in all aspects of business language translations and localization including corporate documentation, video and audio-visual, and commercials. For internal use, businesses turn to DDi to translate and localize their HR reports, HR videos, press releases, employee training manuals, and employee training webinars.
DDi also specializes in all aspects of financial translation. We offer decades of experience in banking, economics, and the stock market, resulting in world-class financial translations. We provide timely, expert translation and localization services for annual company reports, complex financial statements, investor reports, and more.
Globally, DDi provides business and financial translation and localization services to companies that are headquartered in one country yet trade on the stock exchanges of several others, and are responsible for making financial reports available to shareholders living abroad and speaking different languages. In addition, our clients answer to various regulatory agencies that require documentation to be translated into the language of the country in which the regulatory agency presides. Firms that follow research about our clients need to transmit this research in many languages (particularly in English and French-Canadian for North American clients and in Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese for those in Central and South America.)
As with all of our translation and localization services, DDi delivers business and financial translations in a timely and accurate manner that maximizes smoothness and clarity.
Advertising Translation, Adaptation and Localization
DDi specializes in translations and adaptations of Marketing, Sales and PR documents that need to be localized to the requirements of a given public and thus have to be expressed idiomatically, not literally. Such adaptations call for language specialists with creative backgrounds in disciplines such as advertising and literature.
Our language specialists can create highly-localized adaptations as well as broadly targeted ones. We are familiar with the dynamic markets and the current expressions used by demographic groups your company may be targeting.
In addition, DDi provides website, online media and brochure localization.
Film and Voiceover Translation
DDi also specializes in film translation and voiceover translation, including those which must be idiomatically adapted to a specific area or region. In addition, we translate video scripts, film dubbing, and ad campaigns for all media, as well as corporate and technical training products.
With our award-winning post-production talent, we can adapt an English commercial for the Spanish-speaking market at a fraction of the cost of outsourcing it to an ad agency. Please contact us for additional information.
Formatting/Layout Services
DDi provides desktop publishing and design services using state-of-the-art programs.
Our desktop publishing team works closely with language specialists to solve the problems that may arise during the layout process. This way we guarantee that the product retains the original format and design and can thus be used immediately. All work is verified after layout.
* Translation is the process of converting written text or spoken words to another language. It requires that the full meaning of the source material be accurately rendered into the target language, with special attention paid to cultural nuance and style.
The difference between translation and localization can be defined as follows:
"Translation is only one of the activities in localization; in addition to translation, a localization project includes many other tasks such as project management, software engineering, testing and desktop publishing1."
1A Practical Guide to Localization, by Bert Esselink
Adaptation: act of adapting; process of making one thing fit another; modification, adjustment. This is what is done in the area of marketing or publicity, as well as PR.
